Lailatul bara’a or Shabe bara’a 15th of Shaban

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

Lailatul Bara’a or Shabe Bara’a, 15th of Sha’bān has dawned upon us. The month of Sha’bān is a very blessed month. This is the month where deeds are presented to Allah ﷻ

It is because of the greatness of this month Rasūlullah ﷺ used to fast most of this month if not the whole month.
This month has a very blessed night, the night of Bara’a; The Night of Freedom from jahannam, The Night of Forgiveness.

Allah ﷻ descends on this night to the first heaven and calls out:

هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ….حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الصُّبْحُ

“Is there anyone seeking forgiveness so I may forgive him, is there anyone seeking sustenance, so I may sustain him, is there anyone afflicted, so I may remove his calamity, And this continues till Fajr”
{ibn Mājah, Bayhaqi}

In another Hadīth, Rasūlullah ﷺ said:
“Allah sets souls free from jahannam on this night, equal to the hair and wool strands of the goats of the tribe of Bani Kalb”
This tribe possessed the most goats.

Even on this blessed night; Allah ﷻ does not look with mercy towards certain individuals; A Mushrik – one who associates partners with Allah ﷻ, one that disobeys his Mother & Father, one that breaks ties, one that lowers his garment below his ankles & one that has hatred and enmity inside his heart.

If anyone belongs from these categories, you are advised to refrain from these sins and make Tawbah before this blessed night, and make up with your Mother, Father & Relatives; if you want to be showered with Allah ﷻ Mercy on this blessed night.

My Beloved Readers,

Take advantage of this blessed night, spend the entire night in Worship, begging Allah ﷻ for forgiveness for yourself and the entire Ummah of Rasūlullah ﷺ and do whatever is easy in terms of Worship;
if you want to make Dua, then make Dua the entire night, if you want to make Zikr then make Zikr, if you want to stand before the Al Mighty in Prayer then stand in Prayer, Tahajjud, Salāt At Thasbīh, Read Quran, whatever is easy, Do it.
If you can’t spend the entire night, then a few hours, if you can’t spend a few hours, then pray Maghrib, ‘Ishā & Fajr with Congregation at home, hopefully you will receive the virtue of this night, & refrain from all types of evil and sin.

Rasūlullah ﷺ would spend the night in Worship, Rasūlullah ﷺ asked A’isha RA:
“Would you allow me to worship Allah ﷻ tonight”
Ā’isha RA replied: “Yā Rasūlullah ﷺ, Indeed,
Why won’t I ? May my parents be sacrificed for you”
Rasūlullah ﷺ went and spent so long in prostration that Ā’isha RA felt that Rasūlullah ﷺ passed away, She RA stood up and went to Rasūlullah ﷺ and touched his feet only to realise that Rasūlullah ﷺ is alive.

This was Rasūlullah ﷺ taking advantage of the Mercy of Allah ﷻ on this blessed night and spending it in Worship.

Follow in the footsteps of your Habīb, Rasūlullah ﷺ and save your kneck from the fire of jahannam.
